With our guidance, you can relax and enjoy the stunning scenery, crystal-clear waters, and exhilarating cold water adventure that Easdale Island's quarry pools offer. Join me, Jenny - The Cold Water Therapist, and Mandie, a former mentee and now a fellow water-safety-qualified swim guide. Easdale Island is the smallest permanently-inhabited island of the Inner Hebrides, off Scotland's west coast. Situated 15 miles south of Oban, Argyll, it covers an area of less than 10 hectares and lies 200m off the Island of Seil which itself is connected to the mainland by the 200 year-old Clachan Bridge, the "Bridge over the Atlantic". There is no vehicular access to the Island which is served by a small ferry from Ellenabeich. Seven former slate quarries, flooded in the great storms of 1881, now make for tranquil, turquoise-watered swims, popular with free-divers due to their clarity and host to the World Stone Skimming Championships! This really is a day not to be missed. Relax and enjoy the scenery as the coach takes us to the ferry - a very short trip across the water to reach the island. We will leisurely stroll round the island and stop off at a couple of the most beautiful quarry pools for a swim/dip. All you need to do is bring your usual swim kit, 2 or 3 sets of swimwear and some lunch. CONSIDERATIONS: *Transport is included from Linlithgow. *2 lifeguards *Access level - Moderate - You will need a level of ability that enables access on to coach & ferry. Total walking involved is approximatley 1 hour and never more than 15-30minutes at a time. Mostly flat terrain. Some pools require a slight scramble down embankment/across slate. *The water is cold! Tow floats are essential. Consider bringing a wetsuit if you are not acclimatised. *What to bring, where to meet and everything you need to know will be detailed in your confirmation email.
